My parents taught me some basic life values: Act with integrity and respect for others, value good friends and make mistakes. Mum and dad also instilled in me the importance of taking pride in my work. These common-sense practices have carried me through my years of professional and personal life.
Along the way, I developed passions: Tinkering with and racing Alfa Romeos, collecting watches, travelling, studying history and cycling. These loves taught me to appreciate great design, where we came from and the value of creativity.
On this path, I’ve found it’s the people I met that made all the difference.
Over the years, my professional role has morphed to become somewhat less about the technology and more about client enablement outcomes. Analysis, planning, resources, negotiation, execution and value. But I still get to practice my values. On most days, I get to spice it up with my passions.
And some days, I am fortunate enough to help someone solve a problem, learn something new or challenge themselves.
I cherish those days most of all.
